Hi all i fgured this would be the place to come after lurking for a while
Firstly let me explain as a designer with a standalone machine i am hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction.
The majority of my work revolves around composites and recently I have become far less enamoured with the current software I use due to lack of features etc and I had seen catia Demo on V5
What is scaring me is that whilst I have read incredible things regarding catia's capabilities in this area (composites and surfacing)the program used to operate on a stand alone principle ie there was a need but you could get by with little data management or plm and could essentially set it up on a workstation and run it from that...load it on a drive set a storage area on the same drive and away you go
I have read on this forum that i now may need a remote file storage system etc etc to run catia if i was to go down this route V6. Basically am just seeking some form of information as there are others on here with maybe som experience of how the system gets set up, ideally i would give the reseller a call but my experience of software sales is that they are like a dog with a bone
I am already considering what is quite an expensive package or upgrade in the grand scheme of things and just don't wish to buy and then find out i need another pile of cash to make it work like it did in the demo
