Hi,

today I was asked if there's a possibility to add a customized page to add information into the DB that smarteam uses, it has to be an add-on of sorts to smarteam, open only to certain persons, like admins or Project Managers. It has to be able to add tasks, send these to people and update whenever the person it was sent to completes it.

I thought about it and told them that it may be possible on the Web Editor part, but, not on the Editor program by itself.

Is that a possibility for Editor or it would be easier in Web Editor part?

Thanks in advance, Cesar.

Perhaps something could be done with Workflow?

Adding a custom form is possible either in thick or thin. But the question how this form is integrated into SmarTEam: is't fired by script? by a workflow? you are talking about security do you mean you need to add a new SmartEam Class (a profile card)?
talkimg about tasks, there's the PGM product which can help ....

So if you can please elaborate more on the need than we can advise in more specific way

we want to add a customized form with a pane with tasks that can be added and then sent to people, in the same form, it has to have a sort of alarm that should flash whenever that person has finished that assigned task.

After taking a look at the custom form (On how the client wants it, sort of like Outlook with the tasks pane), I thought that only Web Editor would be able to have something like that, since it needed a lot of customization.

Also it has to have a completion percentaje on the tasks assigned, depending on the number of tasks completed, that also has to update whenever a task is completed.

Can that be done in Editor? or only Web Editor?

okay. It can be done.

But, how is it done? Does editor uses asp pages or do I need to add something to it? A kind of example would help more.

Just like aspx pages on web, In windows you can use window forms that are developed using either VB.Net or C#.

You can use Froms from VB.NET or OCX , called by a BS script.

But prior to doing that, I recommend you to, as stated by previous posts, to try rethink a solution for your user's need. You may need to clarify the need and elaborate some requirements than check how to best use ST tools (Workflows, PGM , methodology, ....).

Customization not always"the best" solution !
