Subject: Why does the UDF Template get the Update symbol?

If you create a UDF and it appears in the Tree under Knowledge templates. Why does it often have an update symbol on it. Which disappears when update? Why should a new UDF need an update and what is actually updated?

It does not cause problems. I'm just curious.
