COE 2006 in Atlanta is coming up quickly. The KBE PIC is seeking your participation again. There are only a couple of weeks left to arrange the presentations for the spring COE and we need presenters for KBE. . This is a chance for the KBE domain to shine above the rest.
What we are looking for is real world stories of KBE activities. This is your chance to show off what you have done and get a discount on your conference registration as well. We are not asking for a commitment, just an interest. At this point, all you need to prepare is a presentation abstract and a speaker information.
<<< We are not asking for people to reveal corporate intellectual property but rather we would like people just to tell the story of the path that was taken to KBE success. >>>
The scale of the effort is also not important so don’t be concerned if your experience does not include the words "push button and make product." Any effort that involves re-use, whether grand scale or localized application, is of interest.
Please consider offering a presentation. If you have even the slightest interest in presenting, all you need to do is contact me and we can get started. Thanks for your support. I look forward to hearing from you.

As you may know, we (including Scott) are also interested in compiling a list of best practices in KBE modeling. Thus, you are welcome to present those as well.
It is not essential that talk/submission has to be every extensive. You may just dwell upon one or two ideas -- if you have found good shortcuts of using KBE and doing things in a way that make the results more generic, reusable and applicable across many parts or product cases. Topics to consider are:
* How to construct Rules so that rules become "generic" and apply to many similar situations, parts or features. * When to divide the PartBody into multiple partbodies and when not to? * How to exhange parts of an assembly, its parameters, values, or features in a Part without breaking the associated links, (such as external parameter links if any).
You got the idea... |

This is to inform you all that unlike Last Year, we will have two DPC-KBE sessions at COE-2006 Conference in Atlanta. (a) One on KBE-Strategy and (b) another on KBE-Working.
For those who would like to know more about DPC. Here is an excerpt taken from the COE web site. http://www.coe.org/ ============== Development Planning Council
The primary objective of the COE Development Planning Council (DPC) is to assure that the CATIA users' needs for enhanced functionality are properly communicated to the Dassault Systemes developers. This includes Enhancement Requests as well as Top Strategic Requirements. The COE DPC organization (led by the DPC Director) is composed of six Process Groups (led by Managers), each with multiple committees (led by Committee Chairs).
============== I am leading the COE/DPC-KBE Committee under "Engineering Process Group" headed by Rick Marickovich from Raytheon. If you would like to submit any ENHANCEMENT REQUEST to DPC, please submit those to me or submit directly at the COE web site. The URL for submission is
https://www.coe.org/about/committees/dpc.cfm The process is very simple. Let us know if you have difficulties submitting online. Many Thanks for your continued interest. And a very Happy Holiday Season. |
