In Catia V5 there are some differences between AP 203 and 214:
- AP 214 can manage colors and layers, AP 203 cannot.
- When exporting a CATProduct (V5 Assembly) to AP 214, you have the option to save each Part in the assembly as a singel STEP file. When exporting to AP 203 you haven't this option.

Patrick,

It is best to find out what your customers and/or
vendors are using and base the decision on that.

But, generally, AP203 is a "general" STEP format,
and AP214 is used by the Automotive industry.
