Hi. I am trying to import dxf files from Autocad into Catia 4.2.4. While in Autocad I have multiple layers, on executing DXFCAT, these get transferred to a single layer in Catia. I even tried using layer mapping tables with no success.

Would appreciate any help to solve this problem.

Cheers,
Dinesh

Dinesh,

Are you generating an R13 DXF file?

CATIA does not support a later version.

Hello Carl,

The original ACAD drawing was from Mechanical 2002 which we saved as "R12 DXF". This new DXF has all layer structure in ACAD but unfortunately when we imported it in Catia 4.2.4, the layer structure got lost and all the entites got transfered to layer 0 (Default one)

We checked in the layer mapping table where layer no. 1 from ACAD is mapped to layer no. 1 in CATIA and so on till layer no. 255

Any other idea on how to transfer the ACAD data with layers?

Regards,
Dinesh
