I'm not sure where the best place to post this is...I've called the Catia Hotline with my maintenance provider several weeks ago, but they can't seem to fix the problem.

Anyways, it was a fresh install of V5R18SP4 on my Dell M6300 laptop.  Only thing not stock is the 3GB switch.  I am using a concurrent license on this laptop grabbed from my Workstation.

Whenever I save any kind of Catia file, it creates a ".bck" file.  While I believe Catia always does this, on my workstation once the save is succesful, the .bck file disappears.  On my laptop, the .bck file stays.  It's very annoying to suddenly have a million .bck files to delete, possibly accidently deleting the wrong file.  I'm going to create a batch program to do it, but still...there must be a setting that I have wrong?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Bryan

Odd behavior, I use offline concurrent licensing on a Dell M70 -- XP.SP2 with R18SP3. I have not seen the .bck files. Those files are only temporary (not in your case though). I will see if the IT department received SP4 for R18. Try saving a CATPart to your desktop, maybe it's a file permission problem. You can set folders for creation/modification of a file but no delete capabilities.

Yes, saving to the desktop and it didn't create the ".bck" file. So I think you nailed the problem. How do I change the file permissions? I've never had to do this. Maybe it has to do with the Wave Systems security software that the computer came with?
Thanks!

Right click over the folder you are having problems with.

Properties
Security Tab

You can either set yourself to full control or go to the advanced tab

Advanced
Select the user
Edit

Check box delete subfolders and files.

Now Catia will have permission to delete the tmp files it creates.

Thanks Derek,

Yes, I'd already tried that. INCAT thinks it's a bug with using a concurrent license with R18, and Dassault plans to send me a temporary node-lock license to see if it fixes the problem...if so- then definitely a bug with the license.

I'll keep you updated.

Thanks,
Bryan
