I experience a strange anomaly when running Catia MFG: When the model file is active, all is well. However, when I start manufacturing and select the same model file, it does not show up, does not become visible, I can not select anything. I upgraded the video card from a 64MB to a new 512MB unit, and it changed nothing.
Have you seen behavior like this? When I repeat it on the other computer, it works fine

V5R16.

I appreciate your help. I am new to Catia, currently programming with UG, in Aerospace.

Thanks again.

Peter,
It seems some sort of issue with your catsettings. Copy the catsettings from your other computer.
catsettings folder is inside C:\Documents and Settings\"user-name"\Application Data\DassaultSystemes

Now you restart the Catia and it should be ok.
Although, you might have to change some paths under Tools-Options as they could be different on the other computer.

Samarinder,

Thank you for your response. I will try it as soon as I get the machine back from IT, I had an unrelated hdd failure.
Thanks again

Samarinder,

Thanks for helping Peter.  Peter is a student in my class and I didn't have the solution for his problem so I sent him here.

Good luck Peter.  Samarinder is a smart guy and is very helpful around here.

I see you two have UG in common.

Samarinder,

I got the machine back, all restored and ready to go. I backed up the catsettings and copied them over to the misbehaving machine. I then restarted catia, and it opened up consistent with how the other machine worked. However, When I went to manufacturing, my results were the same as before. No part.

Do you have any other ideas? Please?!

I'm almost sure that something strange is going on. I'd bet money it has to do with the way you set up the files or the way you sent them to your computer. Most likely, the links are messed up.

If you can, do a save on the computer that is good, and do a File Send To (a folder of your choice.) Or do a file- save as- propagate directory. Then move the folder to your problem computer. It's good to always Propagate directory- as it works best for MFG to have all the files in the same place- otherwise Catia looks in the wrong places, and the screen
shows up empty. It's got to be something with the links.

Also, when you are programming, always double click the product and set it as rigid before you start programming. This way any position changes made on the product will also be reflected in the process. Remember, in the process- the product you select is treated only as an "instance" of the product. Unless you make it rigid. Really, they should change it to default as rigid. I can't imagine a single case where it would be better to have it flexible.

Today, I was working on one of the CATParts in the CATIA tutorials and I couldn't see the CATPart in the CATProcess even though it was in the tree.

I reloaded the CATPart into the Part Operation and then it displayed.

To reload the CATPart, Double click on Part Operation in the tree, then select the icon in the Part Operation window to load the CATPart or CATProduct you want to use.  If you want to load a CATPart, set file type to CATPart.

Good luck

Roger,

Ultimately that did it. Looks like I merely had to reload the part to make it work, but now it works like a charm.
Thank you all for your help
