Anybody running Windows Vista? 

It seems to work fine with R18. 

Too bad some of my other programs don't work on Vista.  It shouldn't be long before they do though.

My new computer came with Vista Ultimate X64.  It seems friendly enough so far.  I'll probably stick with it.

I am, at home. i don't have any problems. CATIA is a bit sluggish when manipulating large models but that's my only gripe.

I searched around and found others stating that Vista X64 is slower for CAD than XP X64.
Mine doesn't seem slower, but I will continue to test for speed.
My Vista system has a single Xeon Quad Core processor and 4 gb of memory. But I will be adding another processor and another 4 gb of memory this week to see how that effects speed.
I am running dual Nvidia Quadro FX 4500s with an SLI bridge too.

No wonder it doesn't seem slower. I'm running just a nVidia GTX 7800 at home. Although I do have 4Gb of RAM and a dual core extreme..

Can't get vericut to install though. I wish they'd sack Java, it's crap. I believe they code it in C++ then convert it to Java... Madness

Delmia probably works on Vista.  It appears that Dassault put a lot of effort into making things work well with Vista. http://www.3ds.com/vista
Cgtech is struggling.

Dassault also has released a student version of Delmia and is offering it to colleges.  The school I teach for has about 80 seats of CATIA with licenses for everything.  Now they will have Delmia too.  CGtech may be in for some competition.

I'm the product manager at CGTech responsible for VERICUT. I thought it might be good to try to help with some of the technical topics being discussed here.

1. "Can't get VERICUT to install ..."
Have a look at http://support.cgtech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=760. We have users successfully installing and running VERICUT on Vista and Vista64, and they installed it via the info in this forum topic. You can also call CGTech technical support for help.

2. "Code in C++ ... convert to Java ..."
This statement is not accurate. VERICUT's user interface and graphics subsystem is written in Java specifically to make it platform independent, multi-threaded and high performance. Using Java allows us (CGTech) to have one source code base for multiple o/s platforms, easing software maintenance and making VERICUT stable and consistent across any operating system. VERICUT's compute engine is written in optimized C code in order to squeeze every ounce of speed out of the computer when doing the massive amount of precision floating-point arithmatic operations required by VERICUT. The user-interface is integrated with the compute engine using the Java Native Interface, which tightly integrates Java with native dynamic link libraries. We believe it is all very sound computer science, not "madness", and seems to be well supported in the industy. Fair Enough, I'll shut my mouth.

I think Vericut's a good product, made especially easy with the CATV interface, I just don't like Java.
