I'd like to hear any opinions on the CATIA User Companion from those who've had any experience (no matter how brief) with this training software. I guess my druthers would be for the Mechanical Design package.

I'm able to find product information from IBM and Dassault, but finding what people think about it has been a challenge. I'm looking at this tool as a method for getting our new staff members trained on the use of CATIA and help the existing members when they need a refresher.

When I learned about it at COE in '07 I thought it sounded like there was some promise there. However, the relative scarcity of information about these packages gives me pause.

Thanks!

Well the concept is great, however, the information DS is putting into it is very basic. It competes with their training where they come on site for class room time. Hence it suffers from being to basic for anything needing advanced training. DS does provide a high cost capability to add company training to the Companion. Our training people have used it and I think they have made some great training that really DS should offer as part of the product itself. I think that what DS should consider is, replacing the V5 user guides and moving all that information into Companion. Then offering Companion as part of the basic and core product.

Neil and Timothy, thanks for the advice.

This has been most enlightening and I expect it will help me better decide on a path that most likely won't include User Companion. It's too bad that this product isn't as fleshed out as would be helpful. I think it would be a real service to Dassault customers.

I'll explore that iGetit service and also consider more some of the online training our VAR provides.
