Dear all:

I am making a 2D drawing and I want to mark symbols (1,2,3...) to each part.

I have to hide one body and then I can see what's inside.

After update, other VIEWs lose this body too. Is there good way to do this? (W/O Isolate)

--

I tried "Lock VIEW" but I don't like that becasue I can't edit it.

thanks

Hi

Have you tried Overload Properties?

Consider that with lock view you CAN update, but you simply have to unlock and update it before you do, then lock it back down. Obviously suboptimal.

Overload Properties is the correct answer to your problem. If you can do so, it's through that. Let us know.

On second thought, what did you mean by "I have to hide one body and then I can see what's inside"?

Rather than hiding the body do you mean to be using the breakout view? With a breakout view you can view the part instead of from infinity, but at a particular depth. Very useful for 'seeing inside' a part that is complex and has both outer and inner geometry.

Thanks a lot, LOSTINTHEFLOOD and SKWOK

I used Breakout VIEW, however this VIEW is IsoVIEW and the plane is not the same as FrontVIEW.

I did not used Overload before, I find CATIA document about filter. But confused about the process.

I right-click VIEW>object>Overload properties, but this function is dark (can't click).

Do I need to setup option? or this is due to License limit?(HD2 only)

Thanks.

BTW, the 3D is a part, not a product.

Hello there,

Well, I think we may try 3D clipping (the icon next to Breakout view). It can create a breakout view on a isometric view. Not sure if it can suit your purpose or not.

Thanks.

Cheers. Kennis.

Overload Properties does only work on a CATProduct.

The easiest way to add breakout to an isometric view is to create the breakout in a planar view and then right click and select "Apply Break Out To", and then select the ISO view.

good luck

I can't find "3D-CLIPPING" Icon.
And "Apply breakout to" is easy and useful.
I also learn "overload properties" by one test product.
(Could this method also apply to explode VIEW?)
Thanks all.

One more question about 2D draft.
I got one drawing from supplier, it have reference point marks (like BMW brand)
But I can't see this kind of point symbol, anybody know how to do that without copy/paste?

Regarding 3D clipping. It's a new function in R18 (Perhaps R17. Never saw it in R17 but I might be wrong).

The rest I have to think about

cheers

No wonder.(the version I use is R16)
For another question, I should explain more detail.
I got V4 2D file and migrate to V5 Drawing.

There are many sheets and when I double-click some element (like tables, reference point symbols) in main sheet. It jumps to other sheets then allow me to modify those elements.

I observe the 2D migration from V4 and CATIA Document, and learned "2D Component".

Insert a "New Detail Sheet">edit 2D Component>Instanitate 2D Component

This can let me re-use the symbol. (Drawn by user, not from Standard)

Thanks for all people.
