Hello everyone,

In order to draw some parts easilier, i wonder if it is possible when you do a sketch to put a in backgroung a picture of the part you have to draw.

Indeed, i have the plan of the part on paper and i think that it can be useful to scan it and use it directly.

Hello there,

We know that CATIA has a product called Freestyle Sketch Tracer which is designed to do this particular task. But, without this product, I think we can use the following method:-

1. File + New a drawing

2. Insert + Picture, to bring in your flavorite picture !

3. Create a new view, and use any geometry creation tools to trace the profile

4. File + New a Part document

5. Copy the view in drawing

6.Paste it on the part

=> A positioned sketch is resulted !!
