What are the the pros and cons for using partner software tools that are more powerful like Mentor Graphics, Zueken, XAO, or IAI. Is there any advice that users might have about selecting and using a wire harness design tool?

In V4 and V5 these tools are used to design the electrical systems logical. In these versions DS provided little support for the design roles needs. As for selecting tool if you are to manufacturing from 2D then Mentor Graphics, Zueken, or IAI may met or needs. If you are to manufacturing from 3D and transfer information to and from physical / logical function for topological then IGE+XAO might serve you better.
