Subject: Reorder/Rename Instances

Hi to everybody!

I try to explain you my problem....I have a big product with bolt and nuts.

I would like reorder (in sequence) every kind of bolt/nut, without leave the sequential number that the system autogenerate. 

It's too long rename every instance with the suffix .1, .2, .3, .4, .........Is there a fast way to resolve this problem?

Are there some options to avoid this problem in my future projects?

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you want to do. Are you talking about the part number or the instance name? If it's the part number then you can't have identical part numbers for different parts. And if it's the instance name then I don't see that this really matters as I don't think it is used by any processes. I have the instance name turned off in the tree as default so all I see is the part number.

Sorry, I just re-read your post and I think you are talking about re-ordering and not re-numbering. In that case, I agree that graph tree reorder function is extremely weak. The only way I have discovered to do this relatively quickly and painlessly is to select all the parts in the tree that are the same and then cut them, select the top of the tree and then paste them back in. You'll find that they will all come back in together at the bottom of the tree. With a bit of fiddling you can relatively quickly get the tree into some sort of order.
