In the product tree, there is an icon that I'm trying to decipher.  It looks like a normal icon for a CATProduct, except that there is a circle with a diagonal line through it in the upper right.

When viewing desk, this shows up as black. I can then click "load" and it will bring it's children links into the desk.

It means not loaded. There are several reasons for this. The first is that it's not found. The second is that it was manually unloaded. The third is that the document has the wrong UUID and CATIA doesn't want to load it.

i'm able to load the document into the desk, but it won't load in the main catia product screen. Any thoughts on how to fix that?

Hello, try the attached contextual option after you load your component.

If you first see circle with diagonal line, then you can also right click on the component name >> components >> load to load your component into the session.

I hope it is OK for u.

TX, that would be the third problem. Wrong UUID. Are you getting the "file missing OR CONTAINS THE WRONG INFORMATION FOR THE ACTIVE DOCUMENT" warning on opening? The latter is the problem. If I recall, the only way to overcome that is to right click on it and go to Components ==> Replace Component and select a different file, then replace it back to the one you want (make sure you toggle NO to replace all). I call it the double replace. Likely your constraints will break and you'll need to reconnect them, but at least your part should show up in the same location as it was before. The bad thing is, the "replace all" doesn't work for unloaded documents, so you HAVE to do it one at a time. If anyone has a better way to do it...

To understand more about UUIDs, search the forum. Good luck.

That's precisely the problem. Thanks!

Anyone know how to prevent it from happening in the future? (Was that posted somewhere that I missed in a forum search?)
