Can you please expand on what you mean by "can't get it to work"? Does this mean when the instancing you're unable to have the adaptive part resize to the bundle segment diameter? Or is there some other place where it is going wrong? There are two things you have to remember about adaptive parts. First is that they need to be instant from a catalog. This catalog as a key word that tells CATIA to make a new document, new reference, and a new instance. This permits each adaptive part to independently resize based on the bundle segment diameter at the point where they are instanced. The second thing to remember is that the user guide provides good level of definition for adaptive parts but there are several major limitations to the adaptive part.

If you're planning on attending the COE aerospace and defense workshop in a few weeks I would be happy to discuss with you the adaptive part in more depth. Or we can continue with this threat, please let me know what you would like and provide sum more information that may help me to better understand what issues you're truly facing.

Hi Tim,

Thnaks for the info.

Basically ive took a harness clip from our supplier and tried to get the addaptive strap working.
It works but for some reason the strap changes to half the size of the harness bundle diameter.

Ive tried to attach the part but it wont accept it.

If not do you have an email address i can email it to so you can have a look?

Also i have one other question regarding grommets.  I create them as a suport which is ok for standard types.  However if there is a grommet which is angled then Catia dosent allow me to place the harness end plane at an angle to the entry plane.  Do you know a way around this or is there a specific way to set it up?

Thank svery much for your help.

Gregg

Check that the dimension is using diameter not radius.

A standard support requires the following:
1. An entry plane.
2. An entry point that is on the entry plane.
3. An exit plane that is parallel to the entry plane.

if selecting faces or surfaces that are not planner then the condition you refer to will happen.
