Hi

Is there any way to restrict users from editing/modifying the sketches of standard 3d catalog elements ?

Set the associated files to read only. You can lock it down/refine it even further by using Windows domain or Unix permisssions.

This won't stop them from creating a new instance of the part and modifing the sketch however.
