Hi I wanted to know is there anyway to cut this view in half horizontally. I don't want to see the whole part I just want to see half of part. When I start to delete lines off from the bottom half of the axis if i have to update the view it gets all messed up.

I would copy the original solid and paste "result with link" into a new .catpart and rename it with the original catpart name and add "halfpart" behind it or something so you know what it is in your directory.  In this "halfpart.catpart" file, do a split on 1 of the axis planes so you only see half of the part.  Then do a section cut and you will get the view you are looking for of essentially only a 1/4 of the part.

Another option would be to copy the original solid and paste "result with link" within the original .catpart file but you would need to hide and unhide the part bodies, in order to update your drawing.

How do you split the axis planes?

You split the part body with an axis plane (xy, yz, or zx).  You do not split the axis plane.

Yes, cut part with sketch plane then update your drawing to see if you picked the correct plane.  You are on the right track.  Simply follow the directions above for copying and pasting and you will get it with a little trial and error.

Download the attachment for a "hands on" example.

Why not make a cross section?

So say you have a part like mine how do you get half of that.

Rafi - If you are referring to my last post.... Follow the steps below:

1.  The "Part1.catpart" is the full part I created.
2.  I copied the "Partbody"

3.  I opened a "New" part and named it "Part1-Halfpart.catpart".

4.  I pasted "As result with link" into the "Part1-Halfpart.catpart"

5.  I then used the "Split" command (download the attachment below of the "Split" icon for a visual aid to find this function) using the "yz" plane (but you can use any of the 3 planes)

6.  I opened a "New" .catdrawing file and created the "Front View" by using the "yz" plane in the "Part1-Halfpart.catpart" file.

7.  I cut a "Section A-A" as shown in the Part1.catdrawing file

Or you can cut a cross section like in above posting.

Hopefully this spells it out for you.

I understood what you did. thank you biker. But what does he mean by cross section. If i do cross section does that cut out all your steps.

If you do as Frank suggested and reverse the arrows (reverse the sectioning direction), you'll have the view you want

When I start a new drawing or open an existing drawing the default text is always monospace821 BT 3.5mm. I wish to use another font as my default but can't seem to do it.I am at a standstill. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
