Hello, everyone,

Let's say we have product "AA" that contains parts 1, 2, & 3. When "AA" is opened by itself, we always want it to have those three parts. Then, we have another product "BB" that contains "AA" as a sub-product. When it is opened inside "BB", we want "AA" to have part 1, part 6 instead of 2, and not have part 3 at all.

Does anyone know if there is a way to have a product override the contents of a sub-product like this?

Thank you!

Hi

I had just a similar requirement. In my situation I really got a Bom file where contained the asked structure. Thus I wrote a script which has built the new asked structure with new products and the exisitng parts. The Bom-files showed the required structure, positions and transformations.

Q: From where does Product BB know that it has to load AA with Part 6 instead of part 1? Do you have something like an structure-Information ?? If so, a script could override the content of Product AA

That's an interesting idea.We use SmarTeam for all of our structure information.
