Hello Once again,

I start out my day with Catia in Admin Mode as everyday, you can see below the box that appears. How can I suppress this dialog box from appearing and staying in Admin Mode.

Is it a Env. setting?

A setting in the shortcut properties?

Does any ony know about this.

Thanks in advance............ Phil

It's in the shortcut that you use to start CATIA.
Remove the following string from the command in the target field:    -admin

Example:
"C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\B18\intel_a\code\bin\CNEXT.exe" -env CATIA.V5R18.B18 -direnv "D:\catadm\V5R18\CATEnv" –admin

Also, I suggest that you ask your CATIA admin to check your setup to make sure you are pointing to the right environment.

Thanks for the reply Andre.
I want to stay in Admin mode. But I do not want to have it display the dialog box. Just tring to eliminate one more step. One more Click in a Day of many.

Hi Phil,

Why you want to do your everyday work in Admin mode?

Andre,
I have no real good answer to that.
All, which are few, workstations are in admin. It is what we have always done. I for one am always making some changes in the options. I would not be able to make them if not in admin mode. Other than that......Not a clear answer for you.

I do notice that my Catsettings are within the main directory when in admin. otherwise I believe they would be in my local setting instead right? We do not have multiple users per workstation. So at least I do not have to deal with that. Otherwise I think I would prefer them to be within my local settings folder instead. Admin mode would also be out of the question also then because admin wants to put and use Catsettings within the main Catia folder.

Phil,

I agree with Andre. You should create a separate CATIA start icon that points to the global environment that everyone else is looking at. For example my standard start icon reads:
"C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\B17\intel_a\code\bin\CATSTART.exe" -run "CNEXT.exe" -env VIKING.V5R17 -direnv "Z:\CATEnv"
My admin start icon reads:
"C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\B17\intel_a\code\bin\CATSTART.exe" -run "CNEXT.exe -admin" -env VIKING.V5R17 -direnv "Z:\CATEnv"
Just copy your existing CATIA start icon and remove the -admin from it and you should be good to go. Operate normally using the standard icon, and use the admin one to administrate. All of this is under the assumption that you are actually using a global profile. Good luck!

You do not need to be in ADMIN mode to change your CATSettings. There are two variables in your Environment that point to your personal (aka local) CATSettings and your System (aka Admin) CATSettings. These variables are:
CATReferenceSettingPath (System Settings)
and
CATUserSettingPath (User Settings)

The purpose of the System Settings is so that your system administrator can set and lock certain CATSettings that they do not want the users to change. Typically this path is set to a network location that no one but the admin has access to.

Any Setting that the Admin has not locked out can be over-ridden by the User. The order of precedence is Admin Locked Settings, User Settings, Admin Non-Locked Settings (defaults).

Generally, you should run Admin Mode very rarely, and very few people should be allowed to run in this mode - in earlier releases you had to be a Windows Admin to run Admin Mode as well.
