I there a way to indicate if a file is already open by another user in Catia? It seems all other programs let you know if the file is open by another user and it asks "Do you want to open read only" or something similar.

We have had problems with operators opening and modifying the same file, saving without knowing each other was in the file.

Any thougths on this would be appreciated...

Thank you,

Jon

use the save management hit state until you see modified and if someone else is in the same product then you can see modified by other user.

or you can by smart team!!!!

Sorry Jon - with out the use of a vpm software like Smarteam or Matrix1 you can not tell if a user has the file open until it is too late. I tie a design table to my initial product file. I have the designer open the excel file before he loads the product. You will get a warning message from excel stating another user has it open. This helps with only the initial product, subsequent CATParts are not protected.

Derek

Guys,

Thanks for the quick response, I will iquire about smart team and Matrix1. In the mean time, I like the idea of using a table to take advantage of Excel's message.

Jon
