When I pan to move the model about all of my points disappear then reappear when the model has stopped moving. Its like a steering wheel in my pants..Its driving me nuts! Any ideas?

New rig : Rev18, SP 6, HF 6, HP XW 8600, 8gig, Invidia Quadro FX 5600, XP 64.

Not sure if this is what you need, but (in R17) try reducing the value in Tools -> Options -> Display -> Performance -> Pixel Culling -> While Moving.

Hope that helps.

Nope tried that. We have every possible computer configuration known to man here this only happens to the 3 new machines that all have the 64 bit and FX 5600. Thanks MJ

I thought it was Tools -> Options -> Display -> Performance -> Pixel Culling -> While Moving, also.

If I change the value While Moving to, say, 25 the points disappear while moving the part. If I make the value 3 everything is OK.

I'm using 64bit and nVidia Quadro FX 4500

Hope this helps.  Occlusion culling Enabled.  I would question whether you have the latest driver for your video card.

I'm using FX4500 with 6.14.11.6996 driver. I know that I had problems when I didn't have the correct driver. 169.55 is the driver recommended by Dassault, but I'm pretty sure I use 169.96 because it's newer.

I'm using the latest driver (two weeks ago) on my FX4500s as well.
I have never had to go back to the Dassault approved driver on any of my machines.
And I have heard of people solving problems a few times by using the latest driver rather than the Dassault approved.

Nice to hear from you Mark.
I am shocked that you are having problems with a FX5600.
I can only dream of having one of those.
Have you contacted Nvidia?

Anybody else out there running a FX5600?

I think I found a temporary solution. FYI. The "Pixel Culling" "Static" and While Moving" need to be set to zero. No idea what problems I will run into when I open heavy files?

As per the documentation:

"This option is similar to the Level of detail options, but in that case, it lets you define the size in pixels of objects to be hidden or displayed in your geometry using the Static and While Moving sliders.

  • Static: even if you do not want to move geometry, it is often useful to remove details you do not need to see. To do so, set a high value to remove these details. On the contrary, setting a low value displays the details. For instance, setting 2 means that objects whose size on screen is lower than 2 pixels are static
  • While Moving: setting a high value enables you to move large parts more quickly. When you release the mouse after moving the part, the Static size is redisplayed."

So it seems to be the option to change. Of course it will impact the performance with big models.
