Hi all,

I have been given a task of converting 5000+ CATIA V5 Parts/Products into 3dxml format in a batch mode.

I'm using CATIA V5 R18. I tried it using the batch converter it has in it. But it was expecting a separate license.

Can anyone throw some lighton this, how can i complete my task?

Thanks

Sankar

I do not think this can be possible with the Batch Monitor
a solution can be tu run a macro , and use
CATIA.ActiveDocument.ExportData OutPutFile, "3dxml"

CATIA V5R18SP6 Windows XP
2006 : CATIA V4 and VPM have been stop
SCM : Staubli Catia Management , 150 users , 5 sites , 300 000 ref , no trouble !

Hello Sarkar,

The 3DXML files can be created with the CATDMUUtility.

Hello there,

I agree with Klein that running Batch Monitor is quite impossible, unless I run it with AL2 license (i.e. all P2 licenses). Therefore one particular license should have been involved to make it happen. Which one? Don't know yet.

Running the batch in command line seems more promising. But different syntax gives different result ... DS ... no surprise !

1. In cmd, under install folder ...\intel_a\code\bin, run
CATDMUUtility -f c:\Part1.CATPart -3dxml

It prompts back " no license is available for this batch" !

2. In cmd, under install folder ...\intel_a\code\bin, run
CATStart.exe -env CATIA_P3.V5R18.B18 -direnv "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\DassaultSystemes\CATEnv" -run "CATDMUUtility -f c:\Part1.CATPart -3dxml"

It does the job for me ... !

I think I need to raise a PMR/SR then (all run under V5R18SP7)

Thanks.

Cheers. Kennis.

Do you need to convert CATParts when you convert also CATProducts? Do you really need to see them individually, without being in a CATProduct?

I've made something similar with a macro but for cgr files and I was surprised that after 200 parts opened in CATIA and saved as cgr, CATIA was "freezing" (I guess the buffer of the video card was full). The solution was to run the macro in batch mode (something like Start-run CNEXT -batch -macro c:\_Macros_for_v5\Part2cgr.CATScript).

Hello there,

I run a small test again.

1. With MD2 license
I cannot do anything out of that CATDMUUtility

2. With MD2+DN1

a. Within a CATIA session, I can run Tools + Utillity + CATDMUUtility ... but no 3dxml  file is created for me !

b. under cmd, under install folder ...\intel_a\code\bin, run
    CATDMUUtility -f c:\Part1.CATPart -3dxml

As before, " no license is available for this batch" ...

(NB: my default env is utilizing All P2 licenses, hence it should do the job. Anyway, PMR it perhaps)

2. In cmd, under install folder ...\intel_a\code\bin, run
    CATStart.exe -env CATIA_P3.V5R18.B18 -direnv "C:\Documents and Settings\All
   Users\Application Data\DassaultSystemes\CATEnv" -run "CATDMUUtility -f
   c:\Part1.CATPart -3dxml"

It does the job for me again ... !

Therefore without the chance of carrying out further testing, I presummably think DN1 is the required license to do the job.

Thanks.

Cheers.
Kennis.

You are welcome. JeNdArK made great job with that site. I wasn't so lucky like you because I was running CATIA under UNIX....
