Has anyone been able to create Drafting catalog items and place them in a drawing sheet. Currently using V5R7SP3.
We have successfully done this with 3D details but not 2D drafting details.

Mike,
Make a detail sheet in the drawing. Create your 'symbol'.
Save the document as a drawing. Then save it as a catalog.
You may have as many 'symbols' as you like, but each is saved as its own 'componnent' and needs to have its own view.
Alternatively you may create the detail sheet. Save it as a drawing and close it. Then enter the catalog editor workbench to import this drawing as an external document to create a family of parts.
The first way is easier.
Hope it helps,
Scott

John, the only thing you need to do, is closing the catpart where you defined your family and try again to instantiate in your catProduct. You shoudn't have any problems.
Good luck with it.

the problem was that you cannot put a real number in the PartNumber column of the design table, the field should contain a STRING value.
e.g use 1 inch bolt not 1

I think that what you are looking for is under Quote
Creating a Componet Catalog
. I hope this helps. My IT department could not answer this one for me. I am using V5R12. |
