Some of the CATPart that we had trouble saving are read into V5 as V4 models, and then we modified them in V5. I wonder if some of the CATParts that you people are having trouble with were from V4 as well.
Thanks,
Benjamin

I've seen the same problem, both in SP4 and in SP5. Sometimes you can never save the part after receiving the error (corruption of some sort). Other times, if I wait a minute, I can file the same part with no problem. We are writing to a network drive, so maybe it's a network performance issue & the network times out (I'm not a network guy)?
Regardless, this is a huge problem - just look at all the postings......Dassault needs to fix it. Don't even ask me to submit a PMR since this is a random problem without a reproducible scenario (I've tried that before).

At last, at last, Finally someone else in the world
is getting the same problem.
We too have experienced this disasterous error.
We have reported this to Dassault and sent error logs etc.
I suggest that you check that the V5 part does not have
any extra geometry that it does not need.
Also you should immediately save the Part "before" creating
any sketch or pad as this establish a link to its
directory. This is a random error and you should re-boot the
computer, then its works OK for a while.
Going back to SP3 should not be the solution.
Come on Dassault. Give us some advise on what is causing
this major error.

It seems that files containing f(x) and external links are affected, while simple catparts are ok. But in any case, the same files result in error on both OS. The reply from our supplier is to wait for R8 ...

Ive had this problem on SP3/Windows2000 for some time also and it has been happening with ordinary models (ie no f(x) or links just plain old solids). So I dont think that going back to SP3 will solve it.

I'm stuck with SP4 as all of our parts are in R7SP4. With the powers at be thinking a "CatBack" feature is a waste of time we are stuck. Yes I can use IGES or STEP, but then I can kiss my params good bye. Come on Dassault, it is now time to add quality and value to the product not just new features. We are considering pulling the plug on our V5 projects until this is resolved.

We are using SP3 since mid november on Solaris and Win, but we never had the problem with the saving error. And there is no choice anyway ...
