Hi,

When I try to log into a Smarteam database from the client I get the following error (no. 00256):

Illegal Login 'username'. Access has been denied. Reason: An error occured while creating a user session. Reason: Ticks must be between DateTime.MinValue.Ticks and DateTime.MaxValue.Tick

The Windows user at the client is from Administrator group. The time difference between this client machine and the server is approximately 3-4 minutes.

Any help?

Regards,

Jack

Hello there,

In general, this error message is related to two services Session Management and System Configuration.

As we all know, the Foundation installation (on the server) includes the core services of
'Session Management' and 'System Configuration' services that MUST be running.

In a client-server environment, if the client requests to create a session on the server, then
you have to ensure that both the server and client are properly configured to use the same
database using the ConnectionManager utility. Otherwise you might get an error 00256 when
loggin-in from a client machine (because the session cannot be created on the server due
to database connection failure).

This is only a general idea ... hope it can help.

Cheers. Kennis.
