Subject: 64-bit, Vault problems, etc.

Hi everyone,

We moved our Foundation server last night to a machine running Server 2003 R2 64-bit.

Vault services are running on another machine which is running Server 2003 R2 32-bit.

LUM is running on yet a different machine, also running Server 2003 R2 32-bit.

When we try to check in and out of SmarTeam, it tells us:

"Error No: 01241

Database and/or HASP or LUM licensing do not enable vault servers."

 

What our reseller is telling us, is that the message is a result of running a 32-bit vault against a 64-bit foundation server, and I'm sorry but I'm having a LOT of trouble with thinking that they purposely modified their communication protocols to be different between 64 and 32 bit systems.

Any other possibilities?

Well, how about starting with the obvious. Go under the administrative options (SmarTeam client) and then to Life-Cycle Options. Make sure Enable Vault Server Services is checked. It could be that moving the configuration server lost that setting.

I haven't seen any 64-bit issues myself. Just the same can you shed some light on your configuration? (i.e. V5R17??, database platform, etc..)

To answer the rest of your questions, the setup we run here is:
V5R17SP6
Vault Server - Server 2003 R2
License Server - Server 2003 R2
Foundation Server - Server 2003 R2 x64 Edition

Clients are V5R17SP6, mixture of Windows 2000 Professional (very minimal at this stage), Windows XP Professional (the majority), and a dozen or so Windows XP x64 edition machines.

Database resides on the Foundation server, run by SQL Server 2005 SP2 (64-bit).
