The work directory is on my local hard drive (c:\) and the ST vault is on some other drive on the network.  I created a new drawing (never before in ST) with the views for a few parts. While saving the drawing in ST I’ve got the message that the some of the parts were already in ST. After investigating I noticed there were no parts in ST so I proceeded at deleting the metadata for these files from ST.  When deleting from ST, I was asked if I also wanted to delete the data from the local drive. I said yes. The data at this point was gone from ST and from the local drive.

I ran a recovery files program on my local drive and it found no trace of the drawing.

It means that ST deleted the files from the local drive in such a way that no trace of the file will ever be found.

I deleted files before and sometimes with programs writing on top of the files so they could not be recovered. When I ran programs that recovered deleted files it could not recover the overwritten files but I could still see they were there at one point in time.

The question is how is this possible for ST to delete files and leave no trace?

Thanks a lot.
