Hi!

I'm wondering if there is any way to add properties/attributes while using the StiEngine to save an open CATIA Part to SmarTeam. I'm developing an import utility that saves CATIA-files into SmarTeam. When I try to save the open CATIA Part (with batch mode save checked), I get an error message stating that a mandatory field is missing. The import utility is supposed to be unattended, so I can't have any dialogs popping up in the middle of the save operations.

Anyone who can help?

I suggest one of two things:

1. Set a default value for the Mandatory field in the SmarTeam Default Value utility

2. Mapp a property from CATIA to the mandatory field

Andrea,

I f you know what he mandatory field is, it would help others help you.

I would add four general things about unattended utilities.

1. CATIA.DisplayFileAlerts = False is a useful line to know. It stops some pop-ups.

2. Adding -Batch to the line that calls CATIA will cause the GUI screen to never appear. This also eats a lot of message boxes and other interactive things.

3. startCnt = CATIA.SystemService.Environ("START_COUNT") gives you a way to pass information into the utility. You set an Environment variable in a batch file and then use the batch file to fire off CATIA (with -Batch and -Macro)

4. Be prepared to run a hundred or two saves and then have to stop CATIA and start it over again. I've never been able to really clear CATIA to point that it will open thousands of files one at a time. Somewhere along the way a subtle memory leak results in an "Okay to Terminate" (my all time FAVORITE message).

Good luck,
Hale
