Hi All,
I think this question has been discussed way back and there was no good solution on that. I am hopping though that since then someone did more digging into this and developed some workaround/ suggestion on this…
Now about the issue:
We use smarteam to manage internal data and also data coming from our partners. They may be using nothing or SmarTeam or Enovia or TeamCenter as PDM system and CATIA V5. We don’t have much control over how it is handled on that end but we need to submit their design changes to our system to process.
They normally change CATIA V5 file names to accommodate revision, which is painful for us but we still can handle this by checkingOut existing object, updating (pointing to a new part), resaving from CATIA and check back in at the end.
Real showstopper comes when some of the parts in the process above recognized in CATIA as new object (I am guessing because of new UUID generated).
So question is if someone develop sort of procedure/workaround for this old UUID issue while updating existing objects. The only way I know requires direct DB intervention which is last thing I want to do on each every data update.
Thanks a lot for your thoughts
