Structure Exposed

We are starting to use Enovia but I had a question about structure exposed mode when saving a CatProduct – this is the mode we are saving the assembly files so we can see the directory structure in the LCA client of Enovia, but saving in this mode seems to have problems (i.e. opening a smaller sub in a new window without getting a “non persistent documents” error, or doing a search from within Catia for a sub assembly and being able to open it without  having to locate it in the directory tree) so My question is structure exposed the correct way to save large assembly?

Yes & no!

The assembly node is replacing the CATProduct file, but it cannot support a lot of applicative information such as scenes, kinematics, tubing, electrical info etc.

This is changing over time but currently (R17) there is a lot of missing functionality.

The other option is workpackage (publications exposed); the advantage is that all the applicative data is stored but the structure is not exposed in LCA at all.

You can spend an awful lot of money getting answers to questions like this...

We work with structure exposed mode in Enovia LCA on R16 and have same problems with application data - but it is possible to save this information in a Technological Package - Review folder. It require as minimum the DMN license.

There is still a lack of functionality, Scenes stored in a Tech. Package can't be used for 2D drawing creation and Design Tables to control Part activation in product structure is also not supported using Tech. Package

I in general like the structure exposed mode because it benefit the flexible structure management and you are able to load only a subset of Product structure in CATIA V5

if you have R17SP6 or onwards , then DS has introduced a functionality called as PVR (i.e Product view Result ) and with the help of this functionality you can save any applicative date under pvr and this PVR can be attached as a document under any structure exposed CATProduct.

So to conclude , you can also also save Applicative data under S>E product now using PVR technology.

Hello Phil,

could you tell me where to find full list of items which cannot be transfered to ENOVIA while using Structure exposed mode? Thanx in advance

Hello

This might help you to sort out your issue. All the DMU applicative data e.g. scenes, kinetics, kinematics can not store under Structure exposed product. This leads to database persistancy problem.

The solution for your problem is to use the Technological Packages. The TPs are used to bundle all the DMU applcaitve data under a product and can be saved and retrieved from ENOVIA structure exposed product.

Milind
