Hi Milind,

To have successfull replication you need to have same customization on both the sites. The Oid of the customized attribute (can be seen in the .metadata customized file in dmc workspace)  must be same on both the sites. So preferably the same workspace copy must be published on the data exchanging sites.

There is a method with which uses XSL (eXtensible Stylesheet Language) to have replication between sites having different set of attributes, you will have to consult a DS person or documentation for the same

About P&O, even if you do not have same data things can work. The administrator or a person assigned with VPMADMIN.ADMIN.DEFAULT context can use/operate on any data. If need another person to work on the same the admin person can transfer the data (change ownership) to him & can regain the same.

Thanks & Regards,

Amber

Hi Amber,

Thanks for your reply. I am ok with the customization part but in case of P&O, In industry nobody works with the admin privileges. If the original data is created by User A then User A should exist on site B otherwise it will show the Black lock (Lock by other user) on site B. Admin will come into picture at the time of export / Import and not during the packet creation.

Let me know if you think otherwise

Best Regards

Hi Milind,

Nice to see your comment, I totally agree with you & understand that admin role cannot be assigned to all people in the industry. But, as per my previous reply the person with admin role who performs apply package command can log in to lca and transfer the objects to concerned persons by unlocking the same or there are other admins assigned to do this transfer jobs. Offcoarse this is one way out of many other permutation & cobinations.

As we know P&O can be defined entirely based on business rules of a corporate so as long as the conditions in the data groups used for giving privileges are satisfied the things will work. For example, if there is an organization A on sending site but not on the receiving site admin on receiving site may choose to create data group conditions based on the sending site data, like 'V_organization = A' and use it while create/assign a privilege to person/context/role/project to work on source site data.

Again, I will say it's all on the P&O design of a business. The above one is just a simple example.

Thanks

-Amber
