Is there a way to create a multiple value parameter using an external list (i.e. text document)?

For example I have a parameter for Designer Name and I want to have each designers name in the drop down list.  I would like for the parameter to get this information from a external document.  Is this possible?

Yes it is possible thru Import... command in f(x) panel or Parameter Explorer panel.

In the text file you should write something like:

DesignerName usr1;;usr3;usr4

A tab is needed as seperation between columns if not an excel file.
the <> chars indicate the default value. If the parameter already exists, it is modified. Otherwise it is created.

Regards

Edit : grrrr, the <> characters I used modified the text... I wrote usr1;usr2;usr3;usr4 and usr2 was between those characters.

Thank you for the quick response. That is almost what I was looking for. What I want to do is link the parameter to this document. Is this possible?

No I don't think it is possible yet

If you would like to retain a link to the source document, one alternative is to read in string parameters as column-headers of a design table. Each row of the Design Table could represent a set of (string parameter say designer names) possible values.
I am not sure, if you can have multiple-valued string parameter as one of the column-header?

The advantage of a linked Table is that you can use KWA rules to perform a row selection strategy based on row-characteristics (say designer names) -- which could be pre-set in the Table.

Alternatively, you could use a list-function in KWA.
You can predefine a list of string values and use list-manipulation commands/functions to change the appropriate entries based on rules. List is a very powerful technique in KBE. Unfortunately, it is not very widely used among Knowledgeware community, may be that would change (in future) with experience.
