Subject: Dell XPS laptop

Hi guys,

I am looking for a powerful laptop. And I am considering a Dell XPS 1730. However, somebody told me that XPS is not made for running Catia/UG. Here is the link:

If it is true, which one should I buy around $3,000-$4,000 that can run Catia/UG?

Yes that is a general office PC, you need to be looking at the Dell Prcision range.

The M4300, M4400 & M6300 are better suited to CAD since they have good graphic cards.

Agreed. I have an m6300 with upgrades and it can run Catia as fast as my workstation.

Other laptops will "work" but they will be very slow compared to a real mobile workstation

For $3000-$4000 you should at least get one on the Dassault CATIA approved list.

That is a lot of money to spend on a laptop.
Dell Precision is my recommendation too.
