hello everybody,

i have been using file save management to save my programs and still am having problems with catia losing guide curves and contour curves for spiral milling and sweeping on saved toolpaths! i've been re-generating and re-picking geometry and re-saving but this is getting old. has anybody had these problems and if so, can you please give me the headsup. i don;t edit my geometry and anything i create for new toollpaths i NEVER edit geometry already used in previous toolpaths so i don't understand this. i'm shooting up a flare because it's getting close (schedule-wise) to redoing everything in NCL.

I had this exact problem in .....I think R14
I don't know if it still does it.

To get the program done and get on with my life, I
1. created a seperate program for that tool
2. Locked the tool path after sucsessful computation
3. shrugged my sholders, and did not look back. It was a simple 2.00 ball end mill kellering, 3 areas

well, it looks as though i had corruption in a couple of files in my directory and hopefully that might clear up my problems. i ran the files using the TOOLS-UTILITY-CATDUAV5 and it was able to check and clean whatever the problems were. i was also told (by RAND) that my files (for example 28meg size) might also be a problem since i am running them on a 32 bit computer using 3gb(4gb in box but only using 3gb) ram. i was instructed to split them up into smaller files.

LUPAC, I am using a 32bit computer with 4GB (only 3GB useable, too), and I have files 4X's that size and don't lose geometry. So I don't think it's the file size. Do you have a good video card as well? I'm using the FX4500 and it works well. Also make sure you always have the latest drivers.

The only time I had a problem in the past was when I had bad RAM cards. I replaced the cards and never had a problem again. You might want to do a system check. I think you press f8 or f10 when it's booting up and run a memory test.

By the way, no matter how "perfect" you do things, you will ALWAYS find errors with CATDUA. Even with hundreds of errors in the past, I never lost geometry unless it was bad RAM. In that case, I've lost tons of stuff before I found the problem...nightmare...over...

Make sure you have " Store at same location as CATProcess"  option turned on.

I once had this turned off and CATIA used the same tool path for my -1 and -2 part. I think it was in R8.

thanks for the replies! wouldn't you figure that it might be something that i would think has nothing to do with the other? i don't know how to check the ram but i'll have our IT guy check it out. all the files are on my 'C' drive in the same folder and i checked that files are being replaced in the same location. thanks again.
