Is there a correct way to setup video replay using TRACUT? I have found that video replay will not work correclty if I have TRACUT's in my process |

I couldn't tell you for sure without a description of your problem. First thing is make sure your tracut is applied. If your running R17 sp7 thru R18 sp5 I was having a problem with tracuts also. see this thread below
http://www.coe.org/Collaboration/DiscussionForum/ActiveDiscussions/tabid/210/forumid/5/postid/113396/view/topic/Default.aspx
If your having the same problem i was it is fixed on R18 Sp6 |

Thanks for the repy. We are running V18 SP4 I will try to get the latest update. What happens in replay is any circles get cut backwards |

I did some searches and most of the TRACUT problems should be resolved in V5R18 SP6. Let me know if you continue to have problems. |

Mark,
Ive noticed something on one of my parts. I am cutting a hole that is on an angle using circular milling and when using a Tracut in video mode the tool axis jumps back and fourth. I thought maybe its something i did with my process so I made a new part, put a hole on an angle, and created a circlar milling op. I added a tracut then replayed it and have the same issue. I was wondering if anyone else sees this also. Im use R18 sp6
Thanks Don |

Never used "circular milling" path before. You'll probably have to change it to regular contour or pocket path...but I'd definitely post this in the MFG section so they know there's a problem with video replay on Circular Milling with Tracut. Maybe this will also be part of the fix in R19?
I'm finding that Dassault is working pretty hard to make fixes quickly for us, and I'm going to tone down my attacks. Appologies to those I offended. |

| The machining operation looks fine in regular replay. Only when its replayed in video mode will I get the wrong motion. I couldn't tell you for sure what could be the problem. For right now I'm ignoring it until i finish my part then i will try to see what could be the problem. |

Don,
I did some searches on Circular Milling and TRACUT/Video Replay and came up empty. However, if you kick the circle off at an angle, you are no longer circular milling!! You are cutting one of those conic sections they taught us about in high school. An ellipse, parabola,or hyperbola. All bets could be off. What is interesting is that you say the problem is only apparent in the video replay. I want to think that Circular Milling is only good for circles that are normal to the tool axis. I'd have to dig into the docs. How does the apt file look if you do a replay on in it in "NCManufacturing Review" workbench?
Send me a sample CATProcess and CATPart and I'll take a look at it. If it looks the way you say it does, I will send it to DS to review.

Mark,
I emailed you a zipped folder with sample files. It seems to me to be a video issue. Take a look at it and see what you think. thanks again Mark for taking the time too look at it

| Not necessarily an elipse, it will remain a true circle if the rotary axes are 'table-table' |

Don,
The problem has been sent to DS. I get the same problem you are experiencing. The motion IS circular, the tool is parallel to the axis of the cylinder. I'll post as soon as I hear back from DS. |
