Boeing Commercial Airplanes

2009 marks ten years of V5 evaluation and use in Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Although slow to start, V5 now is the foundation for Product Lifecycle Management for the 787 program, a key component of the 747-8 development and transition of all existing BCA designs from V4 to V5 is in full swing. This presentation will trace this history, lessons learned along the way and recommendations for the future. Major topics to be addressed are Model Based Definition, Relational Design, Virtual Manufacturing, Enovia as a product configuration management system, Global Collaboration, solution performance and scalability, low end and large scale visualization, education and training and solution implementation and long term data retention.

About Kevin
Kevin Fowler was named Vice President of Systems Integration Processes & Tools for the 787 in June 2005. He is responsible for design, build and support process and tool requirements, architecture, integration and implementation for the new airplane development project.  He is also responsible for the Global Collaboration Environment that enables the 787 partners to effectively work on the program from their home locations.  Kevin is also responsible for transition of new process capabilities across BCA where they will provide positive business results.
