PLM Engineering Collaboration with ENOVIA SmarTeam in V5R17

ENOVIA SmarTeam V5.R17 adds new depth and breakthrough flexibility to the Engineering Collaboration technology, accelerating the engineering process and PLM solution value through earliest possible access to design data, automated configuration control and bill of materials (BOM) management.

Engineering Collaboration technology delivers item management and optimizes bill of materials (BOM) across disciplines, enhancing product structure control visibility and collaboration. It includes item management, Bill of Materials business-rules for lifecycle, multiple product representation embedded into all available ENOVIA SmarTeam tools. Embedded workflow allows support for process management.

Flexible item-centric lifecycle management, with embedded business rules, maximizes control over product maturity, enhancing quality. ENOVIA SmarTeam seamlessly integrates all business logic and lifecycle behaviors at the item level, allowing item management to serve as the backbone of and organization's PLM solution, for greatest return-on-investment (ROI). The new item lifecycle management best practices enables a product's items to be moved to any engineering state at any time, enhancing the organization's ability to react swiftly to ensure product quality and maturity, and supporting engineering configuration management and concurrent engineering scenarios.

For BOM-based engineering companies, Item Management is the basic backbone for managing product maturity. ENOVIA SmarTeam gives full control over an item's engineering state, applying go/no-go rules and enabling the non-sequential promoting/demoting of an items routing. It integrates, configures and embeds all of an item's business logic, and propagates it across the lifecycle.

Seamless "design-to-configure" Bill of Materials generation and compare, promotes best-practice engineering processes, saving time and reducing errors. The new BOM best practice seamlessly creates and updates the engineering Bill of Materials (E-BOM) during design, including those from ENOVIA SmarTeam's multi-CAD solutions. Accelerated access to the E-BOM enhances bidding, cost evaluation, and other business functions through to production.

Enhance platform robustness, delivering multiple views, enriched copying and editing, and greater usability, promotes BOM collaboration across disciplines. Multiple views management provides an out-of-the-box environment for managing cross-structural data flow throughout the product lifecycle. Generic structure copy, and BOM compare, promote the reuse and management of complex product structures, with configuration management rules applied. The embedded, intuitive BOM editor enhances work with full capabilities, including in-cell and multi-selection editing, highlighting and history tracking.

Advanced structure filtering according to lifecycle revision rules optimizes visibility into the product structure. V5.17 adds value to engineering configuration management with a new layer of filtering on top of date and unit effectivity filtering. Users can monitor, filter and view the product structure in expanded depth, across lifecycle states and different product maturity, for enhanced knowledge sharing and collaboration.

A function-rich, multi-data collaboration platform, ENOVIA SmarTeam lets companies flexibly integrate, manage and reuse multiple types of product-related knowledge and optimize engineering change and other processes across design, development, manufacturing, after-sales and other enterprise functions. Dassault Systèmes Reaches New Benchmark with Latest Delivery of its Business Process Accelerators

More than 100 Global Customers Have Adopted BPAs Since their Inception Just One Year Ago, Benefiting from Industry Best Practices and ROI

Dassault Systèmes recently announced the latest delivery of its Business Process Accelerators  (BPAs), which include upgrades to the entire BPA portfolio, and marks a customer deployment benchmark. Just over a year ago DS launched BPAs.  They are gaining momentum with over 100 global customers already using them and benefiting from industry best practices and ROI.

“We are pleased to have today over 100 customers worldwide who have decided to accelerate a selection of their Business Processes by deploying one of our PLM Accelerators, involving a significant number of DS Business Partners.  Packaged, productized services provide a way to identify and implement new BPAs; everyone wins with proven specialized applications that increase the odds for project success,” says Bruno Latchague, executive vice president, PLM Business Transformation, Dassault Systèmes.

BPAs are the result of hand-in-hand service engagements with industry-leading customers, in order to transform specific applications and automate best business practices into standard software, which is then bundled and extended to the complete community of DS users and business partners.  This latest delivery of 27 new or enhanced BPAs includes:

SmartDX (NEW). This BPA provides capabilities for an automotive or aerospace supplier to accomplish the data exchange according to the different OEM requirements. It is a flexible, scalable application fully embedded in ENOVIA SmarTeam. The client and server side subdivision ensures an efficient and extensive set up of the export data.

CAVA (NEW). CATIA Automotive extensions - Vehicle Architecture helps to ensure the compliancy of a car’s design to national and international standards regarding vehicle architecture, vision, wipers, manikin, safety and other automotive design tasks. CAVA was developed in collaboration with well known German automotive OEMs.

Flexible PCB (ENHANCED). This BPA accelerates the creation of a flexible printed circuit board shape.  It provides easy modeling and simulation of the flexible PCB within a virtual mock-up of the whole product, allows clash avoidance, mounting process testing, assembly time reduction, and enables users to calculate measurements to help reduce package size and weight.  The Flexible PCB BPA update covers the full design process of flexible printed circuit board. Thanks to additional capabilities in the EDA interface, CATIA designers are now able to import modifications made in the EDA system and thus integrate continuous design changes.  By providing associativity between mechanical and electrical data during end-to-end design processes, this BPA drastically reduces time to market and costs.

Collaborative System Engineering (ENHANCED).  This is a CATIA Systems BPA. It facilitates the system engineering traceability cross disciplines and cross domains from needs capture until final product validation.  It also provides a complete environment for requirements authoring.  With this new delivery, collaborative system engineering benefits from global accelerated performances for document generation and from several major enhancements to capture data from any source document, to facilitate document publishing, and to enhance MS Infopath interoperability for document edition.

DELMIA Automation Offers a New Paradigm for Control Engineering

DELMIA V5 Automation offers a powerful solution for control engineering and automation lifecycle management. Current offerings enable programming of various Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and validation of this logic against a virtual machine, a cell, or an entire line and the performance analysis of these systems. With time and cost considerations putting pressure on new product introductions, PLC programming can no longer be seen as an isolated, independent function of moving a product forward on to the shop floor. DELMIA V5 Automation allows control departments to work in parallel and share information with mechanical and electrical departments earlier in the development process allowing optimization of engineering processes. During the ramp-up of production lines, as well as in machine building, time to ramp-up and risk of error have become crucial factors in determining productivity and profitability. DELMIA V5 Automation helps cut ramp-up time significantly by catching logic errors well before the ramp-up, by evaluating PLC program changes on the virtual equipment instead of taking risks on real equipment, and allowing pre-commissioning with the real PLC.

DELMIA Automation Control Studio
DELMIA V5 Automation Control Studio is a PLC programming environment using the standard languages defined in the IEC61131-3 standard. Control Studio provides the tools necessary to create, edit, debug, and validate controls logic and allows users to create and re-use predefined control logic blocks. DELMIA Automation Control Studio allows the user to create the PLC program independent of the hardware. The resulting program can be downloaded to a targeted PLC through an optional dedicated DELMIA Automation PLC Setup. In addition, DELMIA Automation Control Studio allows the controls engineer to program and validate controls logic in the “context” of the virtual equipment designed using DELMIA Automation Smart Device.

DELMIA Automation Smart Device Builder
DELMIA V5 Automation Smart Device Builder turns your 3D CAD models (CATIA, Solidworks, UGS, ProE, Solidedge, and others) into actuators and sensors to be used in defining kinematics/tasks, internal behavior and electrical I/Os. The internal device behavior is easy for control engineers to define using programming languages supported by DELMIA Automation Control Studio. The internal behavior can also be used to create default and abnormal conditions to validate how the PLC program will react to such conditions. Smart devices can then be assembled to build complete virtual equipment with a complete set of I/Os.

DELMIA Automation Controlled System Simulator
DELMIA V5 Automation Controlled System Simulator allows the user to simulate, debug, and validate a complete PLC program against virtual equipment before any real equipment is even built. The PLC program can be loaded to a virtual PLC or to the real PLC. Users just map the PLC program I/Os defined with DELMIA Automation Control Studio to the virtual equipment I/Os defined with the DELMIA Automation Smart Device Builder and then define the simulation environment. The simulation environment is defined by an input part flow (source and sink) and such stochastic distributions for creation times and part types. Production system analysis and reporting can be generated providing part-centric and resource-centric statistics.

AUTOMATION™
Collaborative Programming Solution to Digitally Define, Control, and Monitor Automated Systems

DELMIA Automation Control
PLC Setup
The PLC Setup is developed by or in close collaboration with the major PLC providers (Schneider Electric, Omron, Siemens and others) using the V5 open platform (CAA V5). PLC Setup (one per PLC provider/type) downloads a PLC program developed with DELMIA Automation Control Studio to the real PLC:

Using DELMIA Automation
Controlled System Simulator with the real PLC Once the virtual PLC program is downloaded to the real PLC using the correct DELMIA Automation PLC Setup, the controlled system simulator can be used to link the real PLC and the virtual equipment using open connectivity (OPC). The users can define the simulation environment as previously described and perform production system analysis and reporting. Operations can be created with the real Human Machine Interface (HMI) connected to the real PLC. The DELMIA Automation Control System Simulator can be used for virtual startup, virtual commissioning with end users, and operation training. Compiled to the PLC native code and transfer to the real PLC Developed by PLC vendor using CAA V5, to guarantee the downloaded program and shorten support time for new PLC hardware Integrated into the DELMIA Automation V5 Desktop so control and maintenance engineers can download, run, stop, and debug in the same environment.
