A Look Back: COE Achievements of 2018

By: Bret Kelsey, COE Executive Director

As we close on a successful 2018, COE has a lot to be thankful for.  This year, we saw conference attendance grow by more than 30 percent, our Academic program hosted more than 50 students and student volunteers in San Diego where they showcased their projects and shared their resumes with sponsoring companies, and a new growth strategy created in partnership with Dassault Systèmes is already helping our efforts to collaborate. In addition, more than a dozen new volunteers joined our committee ranks including new industry roles and the inaugural 3DDerby became a rousing success allowing users to try the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and then race 3D printed cars in San Diego.

As we turn our attention to 2019, we are seeing promising signs that in spite of our conference being two months earlier, we received nearly 50 percent more 2019 conference abstract submissions than we could accommodate (We appreciate the interest in speaking!), our 2019 TechniFair exhibition is nearly sold out, and our new Leaders’ Summit, targeting decision makers and emerging leaders has a strong program that is generating buzz.

Indeed, it has been a strong 2018 and through the guidance and efforts of so many COE volunteers and partners in our community, the outlook for 2019 is shaping up to continue the trend. On behalf of our headquarters team, we wish all of our members a very enjoyable holiday season and a prosperous 2019.
