HP and Dassault Systemes, Partnering for your Excellence

Many hardware manufacturers can sell you a workstation to run CATIA, but HP offers more—the strength of partnership.

What does it mean to be a Dassault Systemes partner, and more precisely, what does it mean for you? It means HP has a long record of commitment to providing solutions specifically for Dassault Systemes applications. HP and Dassault work together to develop and support the Dassault Systemes PLM solutions that ensure your success.

The HP Dassault Systemes PLM Competency Center was established to better support HP’s partnership with Dassault Systemes and CATIA users, and to make sure the combination of software, hardware and operating system is as robust and reliable as possible. HP’s competitors do not have similar centers.

Through the Competency Center, HP provides the industry’s most extensive additional testing and certification process, performing thousands of software tests on each of its Intel® Pentium® 4, Xeon and PA RISC- based workstations. While no amount of testing can anticipate all potential issues, HP goes further to find and fix vulnerabilities than anyone else.

The engineers at the HP Dassault Systemes PLM Competency Center also serve as the focal point for all technical support. Competency Center engineers have the experience needed to fully understand the issues, determine whether the problem lies in hardware, operating system or application, and then solve the problem quickly.

HP also makes free and low-cost utilities available to improve the way you work. The cornerstone of these is the exclusive HP Performance Tuning Framework, a downloadable utility that helps you quickly and easily tune your HP workstation to create a “custom” configuration. It helps provide you with the best certified graphics drivers for your CATIA V5 environment and provides the registry updates CATIA needs to recognize the latest drivers. The Framework also removes some memory constraints, simplifies upgrades and serves as a platform to extend additional utilities and capabilities.

For designers on the go, HP has also introduced HP Remote Graphics Software. This low-cost software tool allows an engineer on the road to access their home workstation from a notebook or desktop system, virtually anywhere, with minimal loss of performance and near absolute data security. The heart of this solution is patented HP compression software that compresses the graphic output by a ratio of 170 to 1 on the workstation end, decompresses it on the receiver end, then sends only user inputs back. No files transfer, so your designs remain secure, but you can still collaborate and present your ideas to your customers with maximum flexibility and mobility. Remote graphics can also be used to project your CATIA V4 image onto a windows workstation running CATIA V5, and actually run V5 from a Windows desktop, greatly simplifying any transition issues.

With HP, highly developed and reliable technology is only part of the benefit. You gain: the depth of knowledge and experience that only a long-term commitment to partnership can provide; access to tools that help you to work more flexibly and efficiently and gain a partner in excellence.

Noesis Solutions Introduces PLM Optimization CAA V5 Based During the European Catia Forum

Enhancing CATIA Virtual Prototyping with Design Exploration, Design Optimization and Design for Six Sigma Methods

Noesis Solutions, an LMS International subsidiary focusing on Multi-Disciplinary Design Optimization Solutions, introduced NOESIS PLM Optimization CAA V5 Based during the European Catia Forum (ECF) in Paris.

NOESIS PLM Optimization enhances Dassault Systèmes V5 virtual prototyping with an extensive set of capabilities to easily evaluate design alternatives and optimize for multiple objectives. PLM Optimization also enables product designers to provide more reliable and robust designs by understanding the consequences of variability in design inputs such as material properties and manufacturing tolerances long before physical prototypes are available.

PLM Optimization offers a complete set of applications to drive and optimize any V5 design or simulation sequence. Applications are available to support critical competitive strategies such as design for six sigma and robust design initiatives. The applications complement the Dassault Systèmes V5 Product Engineering Optimizer (PEO) and extend the V5 PLM and Knowledgeware portfolios to make virtual product design a reality for all manufacturing companies.

"With PLM Optimization, all Dassault Systèmes V5 PLM customers are provided with an efficient way to explore and optimize their designs, leading to reduced design cycles, shorter time-to-market and superior performance and reliability" says Hans Wynendaele, president and CEO of NOESIS Solutions. "With the combination of CATIA V5, PEO and Noesis PLM Optimization our customers are able to transform their time-consuming trial-and-error based virtual testing processes into a 'design-right-the-first-time' process, so much targeted by the manufacturing industry."

"Through our extended partnership, Noesis Solutions has expanded V5 PLM knowledgeware and optimization solutions with additional methods for design exploration, optimization and robust design for Six Sigma analysis," said Francois Riche, Knowledgeware R&D Product Manager of Dassault Systèmes. "The result is a set of advanced methodologies with the most complete set of Visualizations for exploring design alternatives and optimizing designs within the V5 community."

"We have been able to leverage all the capabilities of OPTIMUS, our flagship product for Process Integration and Design Optimization, profiting from the powerful and rich CAA V5 frameworks and development tools, to integrate the most extensive set of Design Exploration, Optimization and Design for Six Sigma technologies on top of the V5 Knowledgeware offering," continues Nick Tzannetakis, CTO of NOESIS Solutions. "We have also implemented a comprehensive set of post-processing and result visualization tools that efficiently support the complete decision support process."

About Noesis Solutions:

Are you Interested in Improving your CATIA Skills but Don’t Have the Time to Attend an Instructor-led Class?

In Just One Hour, Receive Training on Various Subjects in CATIA V5 Through the Live Learning Series from RAND Worldwide.

What is the Live Learning Series?
The Live Learning Series is a sequence of live, Expert-Led classes delivered over the Internet on a regular schedule. They are designed to complement RAND Worldwide’s classroom learning by providing an in-depth look at a specific subject within CATIA. The topics addressed in each class are based on top issues and challenges identified by users who have contacted the RAND Support Center, as well as on suggestions submitted by registering students.

The Live Learning Series enables students to interact with a live, expert instructor who facilitates, instructs, and demonstrates the lesson as well as answers questions and supplies feedback in real time. The instructor executes lessons from their desktop while students participate from their own computer.

Each WebClass runs approximately 60 minutes in length and consists of a web-delivered lecture followed by a step-by-step demonstration within CATIA. As with all of our WebClasses, clients are provided with an interactive learning experience, as they are encouraged to participate and ask questions throughout the presentation. Attendees will receive a PDF copy of a Learning Aid that contains images, menu selections and instructions that enable the student to quickly apply any of the concepts and procedures presented in the class.

What are the benefits of the Live Learning Series?

  • Continuous improvement of general CATIA skills
  • Answer specific questions about a workbench or procedure in CATIA
  • Introduce a workbench for which CATIA users have not received classroom training
  • Learn tips and tricks to improve modeling performance in CATIA
  • Learn new functionality in the latest release of CATIA
  • Interact with a live, expert instructor and follow the class from any location with Internet access and the minimum hardware and software requirements
  • New classes to be added to the series, existing classes to be repeated throughout the year

Upcoming Topics:
November 4: Designing in Context
November 18: Skeleton Modeling Technique
December 2: Feature Duplication
December 16: Working with PowerCopies
