COE Education Program in Full Bloom at the COE Spring 2002 Conference
COE membership and attendance at COE conferences provides so many benefits. However, one of our most valued rewards, to both the individual and the enterprise with which they are affiliated, is our education and training programs. Our content will include detailed product information, best practices, and operational process methods. While some classes use live demonstrations, the multiple classroom arrangements, providing excellent hands-on laboratories seem to be the most popular. The "How Do I?" facility provides a venue where you can work with an industry expert in a one-on-one environment to solve your specific problems or questions related to DS technology. The COE commitment to quality of training and education is matched by vendor/sponsor commitment when it comes to supplying hardware, software, and expert speakers. Certification programs are being developed that will give individuals the opportunity to remain fresh in their skills, as well as assist employers in identifying and maintaining their high level expertise in their design staffs.
Learning can be both challenging and fun, as evidenced by the Top Gun competition, which enables conference attendees to compete against each other for best-in-class honors in the use of CATIA - measuring speed, accuracy, and quality of the finished part. In the future, expect to see the Top Gun competition expanded to include several other disciplines, including manufacturing and tool design.
The COE Education Program for the Spring 2002 conference will feature the following hands-on classes:
AC-3: DELMIA V5 Inspect
Speakers: Bill Reiter, Oregon State University; Roy Smolky, DELMIA
Abstract: The purpose of this workshop is to show teachers how to incorporate DELMIA V5 Inspect and offline programming of a CMM. Examples of how V5 Inspect is being used at Oregon State University will be addressed.
AS-2: V5 Stress Analysis for Everyone
Speaker: Brian Barsamian, Ken Dickerson, MSC Software
Abstract: Whether you are a beginner or intermediate I'll show you the basic concepts of stress analysis and how easy it is to do in V5.
AS-4: DELMIA Ergonomic Solutions for Process-Oriented Human Modeling
Speaker: Julie Charland, Yuk Mak, DELMIA
Abstract: This workshop focuses on how users can leverage the advanced functionality of the DELMIA V5 simulation solutions to provide a process-oriented approach to investigating human interaction with a proposed, or existing, system.
DE-2: V5 MultiCad for Everyone (Breakfast & Learn)
Speaker: Brian Barsamian, MSC Software; Fararra, Boeing
Abstract: How to import ProE, UG, Ideas, Solidworks, Solidedge, iges, ascii and lots of other parts and assemblies into the V5 world
IDM-1: DELMIA DPM Powertrain Process Planning Solution Overview
Speaker: Anand Undemane, DELMIA
Abstract: This class will focus on process planning, as in the Powertrain domain, a complex task that requires a high level of manufacturing and engineering expertise. It is the task of determining and specifying the step-by-step sequence of manufacturing operations needed to produce a given part.
KBE-3: Hand's On Workshop - Differentiating Knowledge Engineering Tools
