CATIA Student Version

The CATIA Student Version is being prepared for a pilot program as this article is being written. The pilot program will be tested in the US at Wichita State University. There will be two schools in Germany doing the testing and one in Australia. The HEAT Program is expanding into all areas of the globe. There are some details to work out on the SV but the pilot program should help smooth out any rough spots. The pilot is scheduled to start in August and will be completed within 90 days and feedback information will be invaluable for the final process. What the international team learns will be incorporated into the formal announcement and release of the SV about the time of V5 R10. It is planned to have HEAT school coordinators for the SV, with the students being able to purchase and receive the package entirely over the Web. The initial version is based on the V5 P1 platform and will have its own product number. With further releases of CATIA, the SV will keep pace with the regular announcements of the main product. There will be more details about price, limitations, and durations coming very soon as the program process is developed.

HEAT Classes
As part of the HEAT Program, periodic classes are held for the instructors of schools in the program. Classes for HEAT instructors are being held at the IBM building in Southfield, Michigan:

  • August 5-9 CATIA V5 MECHANICAL FUNDAMENTALS
  • August 12-16 CATIA V5 SURFACING

These classes are very well attended to the point where some "doubling up" will take place. It is important for the schools to communicate their needs through the annual survey at the end of each year. As you can see the "Surfacing" class has been added to this years offerings due to requests by the various schools for some "advanced" classes.

See you all at COE in Tampa.
