CADEE 2001 Image Contest
Seven of the world's top CATIA designers accepted the prestigious CADEE award at its first-ever presentation ceremonies held recently during the COE 2001 Spring Conference & Technifair in Anaheim, California. The CATIA Award for Design and Engineering Excellence (CADEE for short) is jointly sponsored by Dassault Systemes, CATIA Solutions Magazine, COE, and IBM, and represents the cutting edge of product design innovation assisted by Dassault Systemes's CATIA solutions.

Stephan Boelke of Mahle Service GmbH took home the grand prize of a CADEE Digital Dream Pack. The award included an IBM IntelliStation Z Pro workstation, a Phillips 64 inch digital high definition television, a Nikon COOLPIX ® 950 digital camera, one free registration to a future COE conference or the European CATIA Forum (ECF), recognition at the COE conference and ECF conference, and a one-year subscription to CATIA Solutions Magazine from ConnectPress.

Entries were judged in five categories including automotive, aerospace, electronic and electrical, mechanical machinery, and shipbuilding/AEC (architectural, engineering and construction) and were divided based on company size-large companies with over 500 employees and small to medium companies with less than 500 employees. The first place winners were:

  • Dana Aaby and Rick Marickovich of Raytheon Aircraft in the aerospace category
  • Dariusz Chamerski of Freightliner LLC in the automotive (digital enterprise) category
  • Lutz Finsterwalder of CYROA GmbH in the automotive (SME) category
  • Muharrem Cakmak of COSKUNOZ A.S. in the mechanical machinery category
  • Murray Hunter of Design & Industry in the electrical and electronics category
  • SeHee Kwak of the Ewha Institute of Science and Technology, Korea, in the AEC plant design category

Winners of the contest were determined based on design excellence (40 percent), technical expertise (40 percent), and presentation aesthetics (20 percent). These same standards will be used to judge the entrants for this year's CADEE 2001 contest. However, in this year's competition, there will be 50 prizes awarded in total. That means more winners, more chances and less disappointment.

The deadline for the CADEE 2001 image contest is December 31, 2001, but only the first 25 qualified entries will be considered. Any incomplete entries or those of bad picture quality will be returned and ruled out of the competition. Be sure to read the rules and regulations.
