Dassault Systemes Announces Plans for Future
A bold vision
Bernard Charles, the president and CEO of Dassault Systemes, spoke at the company's annual analyst event at its headquarters in Velizy, France, the news source reported. He explained that the company's aim is to develop and apply strategies for expanding the scope of PLM beyond its traditional uses and venues. In Charles' vision, 3D experience software will prove useful not solely for industries, but also people and cities. Perhaps even more ambitiously, Charles' 10-year plan intends to connect science, society and art while harmonizing products, nature and life, the news source reported.
To this end, the company's Real-Time 3D Experience Platform will incorporate four application areas: content and simulation applications, 3D modeling applications such as CATIA and SolidWorks simulation software, social and collaboration applications such as 3DVIA and information and intelligence applications.
Evolving the traditional
While Charles' plan seems largely focused on extending the reach of Dassault Systemes' products beyond their traditional uses, the news source noted that the company is also working to expand its role in the industrial sector. In addition to traditional discrete manufacturing industries, Dassault Systemes is looking to consumer goods, consumer packaged goods (CPG), energy, financial services and the natural resources sectors.
In keeping with these efforts, Robotics Tomorrow recently reported that Dassault Systems has launched its latest 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the V6 Release 2013. According to Robotics Tomorrow, this product will improve service for a number of industries, including transportation, marine and offshore operations, consumer goods and CPG.
