Using the right XR tool for the Job

Track: Engineering Analysis & Simulation

Session Number: 1025
Date: Tue, Feb 26th, 2019
Time: 4:35 PM - 5:25 PM

Description:

With the advancements in technology related to Augmented Reality, it may be difficult to determine if they technology should be applied to many manufacturing situations. We will look at how to break down the situation into manageable pieces to better understand how successful an AR application could be. After which, we will talk about some of the different elements to think about when picking the hardware and software to develop and deploy a successful AR application.
In contract to AR, Virtual Reality technology is something that has been proven time and time again in academic and industrial use cases for over a decade. Mainly with large, complex and expensive systems. As the portability increases and costs decrease, we’ll look at how and where to use VR technology to improve your workflows, not with tomorrow’s or next year’s technology, but today’s technology readily available!
