Democratization of Simulation for Design Engineers Using browser-based Simulation Apps

While integrated platforms for Systems Engineering are great enablers for designing complex products, their complexity makes it hard for occasional users to be productive. Working with a Dassault customer, we propose a browser-based environment using the standards Modelica and FMI that allows to build browse-based custom interfaces in hours with the same ease as building an html page that results in a customized Simulation and Analysis App that can be centrally deployed via a department server, a private cloud or even the public cloud. In any type of cloud environment, Design questions can be answered rapidly by running 100s of Simulations in parallel for Design of Experiments or robust design evaluations. Since everything is based on open standards, this can be done while still taking full advantage of the 3DEXPERIENCE integrated platform.
Special care has been taken with the available UI design elements to get engineers that are not simulation specialists to be productive without any training. A simulation specialist or analyst should still be the one setting up the Simulation App, but for the App setup, no special programming skills are required. Thus, deployment of design workflows is as easy as it can get. This capability has been developed with a Dassault Systèmes customer for large-scale deployment.
