Migration from .prt to cadpart
Dear Catia users,
Is there any possibility of migrating from .prt(PRO-E) files to CATIAV5.If so please tell me how to do so.

Convert the .prt files into a neutral format, such as (step, iges) and open the files in Catia V5. The worry is that you may get only a dump solid (without history) where you can still add or remove material to the part.

Thanks Navin for your suggestion.But is there any possibility of migrating from .prt to CATIAV5. that is any possibility of getting the parametric model.kindly give your suggestion.

You can try with "feature recognition" option that allows you to convert simple features such as holes, pockets etc...but still this has limited capabilties. may be you can try with your prt file....Other than this...I am not sure whether is there any third-party tool ever exists.

Hi barry.

There are many third party softwares which can convert a parametric model from one software to another.Accu-trans from translation technologies is one of them.And it works fairly good if the features are simple.one big plus is no need to create sketch .and simple fillets are also taken into account.the area where it fails is transferring of volumes . but for this also it has an interactive one which can be corrected.
