This might require a large amount of code programming, but....it would be neat if one could bring in a solid model (maybe have to convert to IGES first?) then output it as some kind of language based geometry (like APT) and then if there is some engineering change, it could be output as well, the two scripts could be then compared, edited, brought back in- and all links would remain.
I don't mean for this exactly. I would want all of this done in the backend of course...just trying to figure out a way to keep links even IF the engineer makes changes without using design tables, or actually adds completely new features rather then just changing parameters or values. There has to be a way to retain the naming conventions for part features so most of the toolpaths can remain valid or automatically update. I don't believe a perfect fix is possible, but I do believe there is a way to keep 90% of the toolpaths good with an update.
