R18 VIDEO REPLAY NEEDS TO GO BACK!!!
Does anyone else agree that we need to be able at least to "reset cut color" when doing a replay!!!

It's quite a nuisance, and makes it very difficult to see what the tool is doing. R17 was worlds better.

Bryan,

You sound upset. I am in the process of writing up an enhancement request for this issue. Another user has complained about this also (he was at COE). I will ask for a "toggle" to choose the old "R17" white toolpath or the "R18" rainbow toolpath replay.

I may also add that that our DS development manager has been granted access to this "Members Only" forum, and does monitor the activity here.

Mark

I think once Patrick does the webinar next week on whats comming in R19, peoples attitude will change.... for the better.

I told them how much work is being done, But I thing people need to actually SEE it.

Is it OK if I post on the PACMEN thread, about the webinar?

LOL! Nah, I'm not really upset- just annoyed at some of the things, and I tend to have a little fun with this Forum. Actually, when I program, I usually have classical music on- and try and go slow and calm...I'll tone it down a bit since Dassault is watching, and I wouldn't want to offend them....I actually have a French girlfriend (real french- doesn't speak English well), and let me tell you, she's very easy to offend!

Bryan,

Due to popular demand, Enhancement Request 130942 has been submitted and sent to DS development.

I've included a screen grab of the submitted PowerPoint.
Due to space limitations I could not attach the entire PowerPoint file here (screen shots of R17 and R18 were included).

Thanks for the enhancement. I can't wait for it! I really hate the replay in R18!

Regarding, enhancements-

It just doesn't seem like the software is "mature" yet. After 18 releases, how come it isn't "solid" yet? Why so many bugs, and enhancements needed? Hasn't Catia of some sort been around for like 30 years?

I'm looking forward to new functionality in R19, but I'd probably trade it all for a release that simply does everything it promises and does it without bugs, graphic freezes, crashes, really strange stuff over surfaces sometimes that are almost impossible to get correct, with good logical roughing paths, and with fast toolpath replay and generation without freezing over big parts, ability to use common toolholders over and over, and ability to insert a major/minor word anywhere I want anywhere in program, ability to change the clearance feedrate to whatever I want in any path, ability to use any tool in anypath instead of lying to the system (calling a endmill a facemill, etc...), ability to apply mass edits to all common toolpaths, where's the script- can't I just swap a surface that way?, etc....man it's frustrating...maybe I'd be better off using older technology where the programmer makes all the decisions? But the strange thing is- when all is said and done, Catia can make some very good programs and can do so very fast!

I hope R19 has all these things...and more!

How about being able to change your feedrate in the middle of a tool path.

The objective of this R18 enhancement requested by a lot of customers was to be able to display and to analyze the video result from one session to another one. So to do that, all necessary data are stored in the video result. The necessary data are the cutting data and also the colors associated for each cutter.

I understood that this enhancement had changed the current behavior of our product. For me and a lot of customers this enhancement is a positive one... for other ...it is not the case.

So we have put in place the current actions plan to help our customers

In R19 a new option is available in the Settings. With this option, it is possible to store the stock with or without the cutting data and when this option is enable the stock is grey…as a consequence.

For those who don’t want to wait R19 …a dedicated variable allow to switch to the previous behavior. When the user set MGF_VIDEO_NO_ANALYSIS_DATA=1: the cutting data are not stored in the stock and so the stock is grey as in R17.

Of course this variable is LA only and available in R18SP5

Mr. Touron,

Thank you for the update
Thank you for the Enhancement
Any time Programmers have the option to customize functionality, it is a good thing

Best Regards

Thanks for working with us on this PTOURON.

You have a bunch of smart guys here working together trying to debug CATIA MFG. And we work for free.
Dassault is smart to take advantage of that.

Nice work guys.

Yes thank you very much for the quick turn around. I was really having a hard time deciding what each tool was doing from path to path within it's tool change, and by the time I had a million colors, the video would eventually or lose it's colors anyways.

Now it does exactly what I want with the variable PLUS we get to load the simulated result which is very handy.

Patrick,

Since this is a forum for exchanging ideas, experiences, and issues, there are not any procedures in place for closing anything.

I agree that there does not appear to be any need for further discussion on this topic. As DPC cochairman I will consider this issue to be resolved and closed at this point.

It is a violation to talk about LA (Limited Availability) Code in this forum. We risk issues with DS. If there no way to remove content that should not be, then we lose trust of DS with their information. Most site provide a method for tagging context that needs review. We should have the ability to tag and remove inappropriate content. Also we release information that may not be production stable. Doing so then causes call when things go wrong.
