CATIA Documentation Problem with Java. Dassault, please fix this!

Theres been some chatter regarding Help/Search and Java 7 update 25 and above.

Before finding the solution ourselves, we submitted a support ticket online only to be told essentially "Too bad".

After a tremendous amount of digging, Dassault did have a solution posted on their knowledge base (QA00000026902). They seem to have moved or removed it from their system for some unknown reason. It did work fine on our systems though!

The text of the support article is below, and the zip file containing the java updates is attached. The attached file was downloaded from Dassault, and is here "as is". Use at your own risk.

Question

How can you use product documentation search with JRE1.7up25 and local installation

JRE 1.7up25 introduced new security features that make the product documentation search unusable.

In order to make the search usable, you must replace some files in /online folder depending on which media has been installed:

CATIA_P3
CATIA_P3_head.js
CATIA_P3_search.js
CATIA_P3_SearchAppletV1.jar (1)
CATIA_P3_StatusAppletV1.jar (2)

CATIA_PLM_Express
CATIA_PLM_Express_head.js
CATIA_PLM_Express_search.js
CATIA_PLM_Express_SearchAppletV1.jar (1)
CATIA_PLM_Express_StatusAppletV1.jar (2)

CATIA_STUDENT
CATIA_STUDENT_head.js
CATIA_STUDENT_search.js
CATIA_STUDENT_SearchAppletV1.jar (1)
CATIA_STUDENT_StatusAppletV1.jar (2)

DELMIA_Automation
DELMIA_Automation_head.js
DELMIA_Automation_search.js
DELMIA_Automation_SearchAppletV1.jar (1)
DELMIA_Automation_StatusAppletV1.jar (2)

DELMIA
DELMIA_head.js
DELMIA_search.js
DELMIA_SearchAppletV1.jar (1)
DELMIA_StatusAppletV1.jar (2)

ENOVIA_3d_com
ENOVIA_3d_com_search.js
ENOVIA_3d_com_SearchAppletV1.jar (1)
ENOVIA_3d_com_StatusAppletV1.jar (2)

ENOVIA_CES
ENOVIA_CES_search.js
ENOVIA_CES_SearchAppletV1.jar (1)
ENOVIA_CES_StatusAppletV1.jar (2)

ENOVIA_DMU_Navigator
ENOVIA_DMU_Navigator_head.js
ENOVIA_DMU_Navigator_search.js
ENOVIA_DMU_Navigator_SearchAppletV1.jar (1)
ENOVIA_DMU_Navigator_SearchAppletV1.jar (2)

ENOVIA_V5_VPM
ENOVIA_V5_VPM_head.js
ENOVIA_V5_VPM_search.js
ENOVIA_V5_VPM_SearchAppletV1.jar (1)
ENOVIA_V5_VPM_StatusAppletV1.jar (2)

ENOVIAvpm
VPM_search.js
dssearch.class

(1) Copy and rename SearchAppletV1.jar to _SearchAppletV1.jar where is CATIA_P3, DELMIA, …
(2) Copy and rename StatusAppletV1.jar to _StatusAppletV1.jar where is CATIA_P3, DELMIA, …

There are as many versions of both applets as there are different media, but each version is a copy of the same file. This is why there is only one version of both applets in the attached zip file.

Note that these files can be used for any V5 release from and including R19. However some javascript files are a little bit different for R19 and R20 than for more recent releases, this is why there are two R19 and R19+R20 folders in the attached zip file. For these releases, you must use files from these folders when you find them.

Important: the applets are now signed and then require internet access for signature validation.

RE: CATIA Documentation Problem with Java. Dassault, please fix this!
(in response to Rob Snodgrass)

Hi Rob,

Thank you for calling this to our attention.

This sounds like a big problem... and if not resolved... might deter peoplel from upgrading to newer versions of CATIA. This may be a Java problem, but hopefully, DS and java folks, can work this out ASAP.

CATIA Documentation Problem with Java. Dassault, please fix this!
(in response to Dave Frank)
Hi Dave,

It's certainly an issue. The interactive help (specifically search capabilities) are critical for us.

I can say with some level of surprise, that I was contacted very shortly after posting this, by a Dassault Customer Relations Director who asked specifically about my ticket number. I provided that info as quickly as possible.

While I have not yet heard back, I do appreciate the direct response! Hopefully Dassault will get this fix streamlined and out to the user base quickly!
